Haunted Happenings 2018

Visitors can look forward to new Haunted Happenings events like the Great Salem Pumpkin Walk, Salem Fairy Fest, and Kids' Costume Party during Wicked Wednesdays, and The Spirits Speak, a magic and mentalism event. The Great Salem Pumpkin Walk on October 10, 4-8 p.m. Salem invites you to explore the historic and haunted downtown district for a special self-guided tour of pumpkin displays, activities, and entertainment.

Haunted Happenings Grand Parade on October 4 at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Salem. This year’s event will feature the theme “The Magic of Hocus Pocus.”

The Spirits Speak: Magic, Mediums, and Mentalism at Salem Regional Visitor Center, 2 New Liberty Street. Experience the mystery of Victorian spiritualism. $10-$20. Dates: October 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27. Check website for performance times.

Howl-O-Ween Parade on October 13 at 1 p.m. at Salem Maritime National Historic Site, 193 Derby Street. The event includes plenty of fun and games and a pet parade and costume contest with prizes.

Kids Costume Celebration on October 17, 4-7 p.m. Kids costume party, sing-along, and dance party. Meet at Riley Plaza, parade down Pedestrian Mall, party at the Fountain Stage.

Haunted Dinner Theater: “Shipwrecked!” at the Hawthorne Hotel, 18 Washington Square West. Salem’s most creative interactive performance with an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner. Several dates; consult website.

Salem Witches’ Magic Circle on October 31 at 5 p.m. Drumming by the Dragon Ritual Drummers as witches from around the globe gather for the sacred and magical ritual of Halloween!

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular 2018

The 2018 show displays 5,000 carved pumpkins displaying wizards, tall tales, famous characters of legend, heroes, and people who changed our world. Trail is fully accessible to strollers, wagons and wheel chairs.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday tickets available online only and entry is timed. Requires pre-registration. Above age 12, $18; youth age 2-12, $15. The 10 p.m. slot is $15 and $12, online. Trail open 6-11 p.m.

Glocester Scarecrow Festival 2018

Scarecrows will be lined on the Main Street/Putnam Pike in Chepachet. Music begins at 11:30 a.m. at the pavilion at Kent Field. Glocester students provide music at 11:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. At 2 p.m. the Class Five Jazz Quintet performs. The event includes a bunny pen and 100 pumpkins will be available for pumpkin painting. Local restaurants participating will offer specials that day.
