May 1st through late October, choose a half-day or sunset sail aboard the sailing ship ARGIA! Discover islands, lighthouses, and traditional windjammer sailing, right from down-town Mystic, Connecticut. ARGIA accommodates up to 49 guests for public or private half-day or evening sails down the historic Mystic River to Fishers' Island Sound. Sail in smooth and protected waters aboard this Coast Guard licensed vessel.

Relax as you sail by scenic coastlines, take a turn at the helm, or help the crew hoist and trim the sails. Pack a picnic and a bottle of wine (or order snacks from us when you book) to make this excursion truly memorable.

Paddlewheel harbor cruise, fishing trip, whale watch: These boats do it all

Cruise around a scenic harbor, see a whale emerge from Cape Cod Bay, fish for haddock, enjoy a quick trip to Provincetown: You can do all of that on board the vessels of Captain John Boats. The Pilgrim Belle, a classic paddlewheel boat, is a great way to view historic Plymouth Harbor. (Private charters are available, too.) Want something farther out? Go on a whale watch out of Plymouth or Provincetown, in search of humpbacks, minkes, finbacks and right whales in their prime feeding grounds. Or go deep-sea fishing for cod, haddock and mackerel. Want to combine a land-and-sea adventure? Take the scenic fast ferry out of Plymouth and be in Provincetown 90 minutes later. Boats have comfortable cabins, with galley service.

Terrific tours offered by the nonprofit Save The Bay organization allow you to explore the natural and manmade wonders of and around Narragansett Bay. Motor through historic Newport Harbor and watch the harbor seals at Citing Rock on a one-hour tour, or take a slightly longer tour and walk the grounds of Rose Island. Or, through November, take the Westerly nature cruise to marvel at fall foliage as well as seals. On one of Save The Bay’s expertly narrated lighthouse tours, which begin in Providence, you’ll cruise past up to 20 active and inactive lighthouse sites in the bay, stopping for lunch and exploration at Rose Island. The tour also features breathtaking views of Newport Pell Bridge, Prudence Island and historic Fort Adams.
