Cruise along the Connecticut River, past breathtaking scenery, on this classic riverboat

Called one of the “last great places on Earth” by the Nature Conservancy, the Connecticut River Valley in all its natural splendor is best viewed from the river itself – and that’s exactly what they offer at the Essex Steam Train & Riverboat. Take a vintage train to Deep River Landing and step aboard the Becky Thatcher, a Mississippi-style riverboat that cruises the river, past coves, inlets, marshes and historic sites including Gillette Castle, the Goodspeed Opera House and the Haddam Swing Bridge. The riverboat has three decks, including an open-air promenade deck, perfect for viewing wildlife along the rocky shore and, on an evening cruise, the sunset and stars. The boat can be chartered for private functions for up to 220 people. Please check our website for current train & riverboat schedules.
