Up and down the length of the Green Mountains are downhill ski areas to challenge and satisfy skiers of every ability. Smaller family-oriented areas are great places to learn the sport and enjoy smaller crowds and many quick runs during a day of skiing. Full service mountain resorts abound. Among them are renowned names such as Stowe, Killington, Mad River Glen and Mount Snow. Impressive snow coverage, long runs, ever-improving lifts and full services are the hallmarks of these ski resorts. Killington Resort, the largest in New England, has seven mountain peaks, 200 trails, five terrain parks, 33 lifts, and a vertical drop of 3,050 feet. There are seven lodges, include one at the top of Killington Peak.

Operated by Middlebury College, and open to the public, the Snow Bowl offers skiing and snowboarding to all ability levels. One hundred ten acres of open terrain are available with trails and glades serving all abilities. There are three lifts and 15 trails on a vertical drop of 1,050 feet.

Situated on Vermont’s largest mountain, Stowe has a vertical drop of 2,360 feet, 48 trail and 13 lifts as well as terrain parks and a superpipe. There is an adaptive skiing program, snowshoeing and dog sledding.

And freestylers can feel the love, too, because Bromley just added two new parks – they’ve got four – Bonanza Park and the Exhibition Terrain Park.

Stratton Mountain, with 90 trails, four terrain parks, and fourteen lifts is a mountain resort with activities for all. In addition there is snowshoeing and horse-drawn sleigh riding.
