Barden Family Orchard was established in 1931 by John and Hazel Barden. Building on the knowledge shared by our grandparents, our farm operation has become diverse. Customers come to the orchard to pick their own apples, peaches raspberries and pumpkins. Families enjoy the freedom of roaming through the orchard during their visit. The "you pick" season extends from August with raspberries and blueberries, all the way through early November, with peaches, apples, and pumpkins. We also grow other produce including sweet corn, summer squash and zucchini, tomatoes, plums, nectarines, eggplant winter squash, cucumbers and other assorted crops.

Hi-On-A Hill Herb Farm & Gardens is a small seventh generation family farm specializing in herbs and land/wildlife conservation management. Within the borders of quaint fences, bedrock and glacial boulders are herbal theme gardens, a water garden and the herb/potting shed. In the shed are herbs drying from the rafters and a variety of herbal and "dried everlastings" arrangements. Herb plants are available for purchase May through September. Classes are offered in dried herb arrangement making beginning in autumn. Open Thursday through Sunday, noon - 5 p.m.

The Audubon Environmental Education Center is a state-of-the art natural history museum and aquarium that puts fun and excitement into experiencing nature. Look inside a 33-foot life size Right Whale, discover life in a tide pool, and observe Narragansett Bay’s marine life. The Center’s interactive exhibits feature local habitats. Situated on the 28-acre McIntosh Wildlife Refuge the Environmental Education Center has walking trails with a ¼ mile boardwalk that winds through fresh and saltwater marshes leading to a majestic view of Narragansett Bay. The refuge is along the East Bay Bike Path allowing bikers and walkers access to the refuge’s natural beauty. The Center offers guided tours, nature walks, special family programs and much more throughout the year. The facility and trails are handicapped accessible.

Coggeshall Farm Museum is a living historical farm set on 48 acres in Bristol, Rhode Island. The museum depicts Bristol's agrarian life in the year 1799 through live interpretation, historic structures, and heirloom plants and animals. Interpreters dressed in accurate reproduction clothing carry out the same tasks practiced on Rhode Island's coastal tenant farms during the Federal Period. As the weather and seasons change, so too does the work, following a continuous cycle of birth, raising, and eventual harvest. Visitors to the museum encounter a New England farm at work in the years leading up to the Industrial Revolution; on the cusp of major social and technological change that would usher in new ways of understanding agriculture and the world. Open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Frerichs Farm is a family owned and operated retail nursery and farm located on the scenic Kickemuit River in Warren Rhode Island. Since 1986, we have offered quality annuals, perennials and vegetables lovingly grown in 11 greenhouses, and an assortment of farm animals. In the fall, Frerichs Farm is invaded by giant pumpkins, and each Columbus Day weekend hosts the Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Grower’s Annual Weigh-off. Throughout the fall months, the pumpkin coach ride, Windy River Junction town, and pumpkin patches are open for children’s enjoyment. Each winter, The Gift Shop is filled with hand-made holiday gifts and ornaments. Open April through December; Tuesday - Sunday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Our historic farm is perched upon a seaside cliff and is home to a seventy five head herd of Huacaya Alpacas. What is an alpaca? A gentle Camelid that is raised for its prized fiber. The property proudly boasts the historic stone stable building and carriage house; still intact is the original wooden silo and brick well house as well. Newport Vineyards is a family owned winery, founded in 1978. Paul and John Nunes, whose local roots date back to 1917, purchased the winery in 1995. Since that time, the winery has grown to 50 acres of varietal and hybrid grapes. Visitors are offered public tours at 1 and 3 pm, seven days a week. These include a tour in the vineyards, a behind the scenes look at the winemaking process and a tasting of five wines. The winery features an art gallery and retail shop with wine accessories and signature clothing. Private tours and tastings for groups of ten or more are available. Newport Vineyards specializes in rehearsal dinners, corporate affairs and custom labels. The winery hours are Monday thru Saturday 10-5 and Sunday noon-5 year around. Since the majority of our acreage is forested, we harvest logs and firewood, Christmas greens and maple sap from our managed wood lot.
